Advertising Terms of Service

"Site" refers to DD Form 214 Life, accessible at ddform214life.com and all associated subdomains.

"Advertiser" refers to any individual, company, or organization that purchases an advertising placement on the Site.

"Creative" refers to the advertisement image, text, and associated metadata (alt text, click URL) submitted by the Advertiser.

"Placement" refers to the specific location on the Site where an advertisement is displayed (e.g., Header Leaderboard, Sidebar Rectangle, In-Content Banner, Footer Banner).

DD Form 214 Life exclusively accepts advertisements for military-related products, services, and organizations. All advertisements must be relevant to veterans, active-duty service members, military families, or the military community. General consumer advertising with no military connection will be rejected.

Permitted content (must be military-related):

• Veteran-owned businesses and military-affiliated organizations
• Military merchandise, apparel, challenge coins, flags, patches, and memorabilia
• Veteran service organizations (VSOs) and military nonprofits
• Military transition services (career coaching, resume writing, job placement)
• Education programs targeting veterans (GI Bill-approved schools, coding bootcamps, trade schools)
• Financial services for the military community (VA loans, military banking, TSP advisors, SGLI)
• Health and wellness services for veterans (PTSD treatment, counseling, fitness programs)
• Defense industry employers and government contractors hiring veterans
• Legal services for veterans (VA claims assistance, disability appeals, military law)
• Military-friendly real estate, moving, and relocation services
• Veteran events, conferences, and community gatherings

Prohibited content (ads containing any of the following will be rejected):

• General consumer products or services with no connection to the military community
• Explicit, sexual, or pornographic material
• Violent, gory, or disturbing imagery
• Hate speech, discrimination, or content targeting any protected group
• Content disrespectful to military service, veterans, or their families
• Misleading, false, or deceptive claims
• Predatory lending products (payday loans, title loans, high-interest personal loans)
• Gambling, online casinos, or sports betting
• Tobacco, vaping, or e-cigarette products
• Illegal drugs or controlled substances
• Weapons, ammunition, or explosives (excluding licensed retailers with proper disclaimers)
• Political attack ads or partisan political content
• Malware, phishing, or deceptive download links
• Multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid schemes
• Unverified health claims or miracle cures
• Any product or service that is illegal under federal or state law

All submitted advertisements undergo automated content review upon payment confirmation. This review evaluates the ad image, company information, click-through URL, and alt text against our content policy.

Approved ads are automatically activated and begin serving impressions immediately upon approval.

Rejected ads will not be published. The Advertiser will be notified of the rejection reason. If your ad is rejected, you may submit a revised creative by contacting our support team.

DD Form 214 Life reserves the right to conduct additional manual reviews at any time, and to remove any advertisement that is later found to violate these terms, even if it was initially approved by the automated review system.

Advertisements must meet the following technical specifications:

• File formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP
• Maximum file size: 2MB
• Header Leaderboard: 728 x 90 pixels
• Sidebar Rectangle: 300 x 250 pixels
• In-Content Banner: 336 x 280 or 728 x 90 pixels
• Footer Banner: 728 x 90 pixels

The Advertiser is responsible for ensuring their creative meets the specified dimensions. Ads that do not match the required dimensions may be scaled or cropped automatically.

Monthly billing: Monthly ad placements are billed as recurring subscriptions through Stripe. Your payment method will be automatically charged on the same date each month until you cancel. You may cancel at any time through your Stripe customer portal or by contacting our support team. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Yearly billing: Yearly ad placements are billed as a single one-time payment through Stripe. Yearly plans receive a 20% discount compared to the equivalent monthly rate. Yearly payments are non-refundable after 14 days from the date of purchase.

Failed payments: If a monthly payment fails, your ad will be immediately paused (removed from rotation). You will have a 7-day grace period to update your payment information. If payment is not received within 7 days, your ad placement will be permanently deactivated. You may re-subscribe at any time by purchasing a new placement.

All prices are listed in U.S. dollars (USD). Applicable taxes are the responsibility of the Advertiser.

When multiple advertisers purchase the same placement (e.g., multiple Header Leaderboard ads), all active ads are rotated randomly among site visitors.

Our rotation system tracks impression counts and uses weighted random selection to ensure that all active ads in the same placement receive approximately equal exposure over time. Ads with fewer impressions are given higher selection probability until they catch up.

Each page visit loads a different random ad for each placement. There is no guarantee of a specific number of impressions per day, as total impressions depend on site traffic volume and the number of active advertisers in the same placement.

Impression and click counts are tracked and may be made available to the Advertiser upon request.

Monthly subscriptions: No refunds are issued for partial months. When you cancel, your ad remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Yearly plans: A full refund is available within 14 days of purchase if your ad has not yet been approved or has received fewer than 100 impressions. After 14 days or 100 impressions (whichever comes first), yearly payments are non-refundable.

Rejected ads: If your ad is rejected during content review and you do not wish to submit a revised creative, a full refund will be issued within 5-10 business days.

DD Form 214 Life reserves the right to remove any advertisement at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to:

• Violation of this Acceptable Content Policy
• Complaints from site users regarding the advertisement
• Changes in our editorial standards or content guidelines
• Legal requirements or regulatory obligations
• Technical issues that cannot be resolved

If an ad is removed due to a content policy violation after it was previously approved, no refund will be issued. If removal is initiated by DD Form 214 Life for reasons unrelated to the Advertiser's conduct, a prorated refund will be provided for the remaining unused portion of the paid period.

The Advertiser agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DD Form 214 Life, its owners, operators, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

• The content of the Advertiser's Creative
• Any claims that the Creative infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
• Any claims arising from the products or services promoted in the advertisement
• Any violation of these terms by the Advertiser

DD Form 214 Life does not guarantee any specific number of impressions, clicks, conversions, or business results from advertising placements. Ad performance depends on factors including site traffic, user engagement, ad creative quality, and competition within the same placement.

IN NO EVENT SHALL DD FORM 214 LIFE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH DAMAGES WERE FORESEEABLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY THE ADVERTISER FOR THE SPECIFIC AD PLACEMENT IN QUESTION.

We collect and store the following Advertiser data:

• Company/brand name
• Contact email address
• Website URL and click-through URL
• Uploaded ad creative (stored in secure cloud storage)
• Payment information (processed and stored by Stripe; we do not store card numbers)
• Impression and click counts associated with your ad

This data is used solely for the purpose of delivering and managing your advertisement. We do not sell Advertiser data to third parties. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.

DD Form 214 Life reserves the right to modify these Advertising Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our advertising services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes that affect active advertisers, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice via email.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Maryland.
